Sleep: it can make or break your day

Today, I had a not-so-great day after a stomach ache the night before. No matter what I did, I couldn't get to sleep so the next morning, I was up and happy the night was over because it had served no purpose for me. But, when I was walking to the store this afternoon, my body just crashed. The lack of sleep from the night before took it's toll on me. I walked around the store with my feet feeling like 10 lbs. each. I really felt bad next to anyone in any of the aisles I was in simply because I was dragging my feet and you could hear it (slight pet peeve of mine but I couldn't help it).
I literally felt so tired that I went on a bench in front of the store and just stared into space. I'm sure I looked like some sort of zombie but it's Georgia...who cares? ;)
But, you know how sometimes when you're really tired, you start to complain and get sad about things that aren't that deep but make you sad anyway? Well, I saw the bus headed down that road and decided I didn't want to get on and so I made a phone call to a friend to help me feel better and they told me that I keep contradicting myself and I need to stop!!!!
What the hell?!?!
Dude, I called you because I needed some encouragement not so that I could feel worse about everything.
Calling her made me feel worse and I ended up crying when I hung up the phone.
I'm going to bed after I press Publish Post.

Who the heck does he think he is?!?

I don't get Rush Limbaugh at all! I just read another article full of his recalcitrance towards Obama's stimulus plan (which btw is $1 trillion dollars) and part of me feels like...who's more dumb? Limbaugh for saying it or me for actually reading an article with the his name anywhere in the title or first paragraph?

Anyhow, Obama telling Republicans leaders to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh sends the obvious message that Obama is generally annoyed with Limbaugh more than anything else. This is how I feel ;)

1.) Rush Limbaugh must have some sort of power as a radio host for Obama to call him out like that. And since this is America, the land where freedom of speech is in the constitution...freedom to listen is allowed too. lol.And with that being said, the GOP leaders should be able to listen to whatever...

2. However, WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A ECONOMIC CRISIS!!!!!!!!!! WHY THE HELL WOULD ANYONE LISTEN TO POMPOUS WINDBAGS LIKE R.L.?????!?? You can't tell someone who to listen to but you can't tell someone to shut up either so I think that Obama was right to "encourage" Republicans to turn off WRKO at a certain time of the day when a certain man is fortune telling and trying to tell leaders how to do their job. simply because we need all the positive reinforcements we can get. If we are going to achieve some sort of change, we've all got to change habits, attitudes, outlooks, etc. to reach a common goal....economic stability. Newsflash: If you really want to make a difference in this situation, you can't be all talk....but of course, a man who talks for a living wouldn't know much about that!

I'll Explain Tomorrow

Paul: I'm....sorry. Is he all right?
Holly: Sure. Sure. He's okay. Aren't you, Cat? Poor old Cat. Poor slob. Poor slob without a name. I don't have the right to give him one. We don't belong to each other. We just took up one day. I don't want to own anything until I find a place where me and things go together. I'm not sure where that is, but I know what it's like. It's like Tiffany's.
Paul: Tiffany's? You mean the jewelry store?
Holly: That's right. I'm crazy about Tiffany's. Listen. You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul: The "mean reds?" You mean, like the blues?
Holly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat or it's been raining too long. You're just sad, that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid, and you don't know what you're afraid of. Don't you ever get that feeling?
Paul: Sure. Some people call it angst.
Holly: When I get it, what does any good is to jump into a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away. The quietness, the proud look. Nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that made me feel like Tiffany's, then... then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name...I'm sorry. You wanted something. Oh, the telephone.

Minutes from the Mental Meeting on Martin

Tuesday was beautiful! I was filled with alot of pride watching the inauguration. I thought that it was a great ceremony and the parade was nice...it's refreshing to see a change in the White House administration and to see so many people gung-ho for an African American family....
But, I'm slightly annoyed that everything keeps going back to Martin Luther King, Jr. I feel as though every time a Black person does something great, it's attributed to King. I mean, nothing against Martin Luther King , however, Barack Obama is standing on the shoulders of a PEOPLE not just one person. So many people were whipped and beaten; pulled tobacco crops and ran to freedom on the Underground Railroad.
It wasn't just Martin Luther King behind the whole struggle and I feel that we give that man too much praise at times! I feel like Malcolm X is just as deserving of some credit and to me, his story is more ground-breaking in terms of "revolutionary thinking" simply because you could see the change and growth within Malcolm X. Malcolm X understandably didn't like whites...I mean, would you after they killed your father purely on race? And then, went buck wild, went to jail, changed his ways and joined the Nation of Islam, became passionate about the civil rights movement; went to Mecca; learned of his shortcomings in his "by any means necessary" mantra" and changed his strategies. It was by his own that he was killed. And by his own, he's forgotten as well. This isn't a Martin vs. Malcolm or a "Malcolm is better than Martin" debate...however, I just feel like Martin Luther King has been given the credit that belongs to an entire group of people. Yes, he was an amazing, influential, revolutionary thinker and leader...much like Obama is and will continue to be....however, if you're going to mention the Black struggle, don't start and end it with Bro. Martin. That's all I'm saying. ;0)

The Sole Cry; My Soul's Cry

What if we could turn off all the voices inside our heads? I mean, really. What if we could tell the good angel perched on one shoulder and the devil imp on the other to shut up, for real? What if we could turn off our thoughts for an hour? Even when you're watching tv, there's still some sort of thought processing going on. Even when I'm asleep, my brain seems to get no rest. I think that life would be temporarily bearable if we could all sit and just...sit. Not sit and think, but just sit. Even if you try to "not think" now, it's impossible. You're thinking about not thinking. The song "I can't make you love me" by Bonnie Raitt inspired my train of "not thinking" *smile*. There's a line in the song that says "turn down these voices inside my head". The rest of the song continues with the singer asking someone to lay down with them...no lies, no pretense...just hold them close and don't patronize the situation because they know they can't make the other person love them if they don't...
It's weird but how would life truly be if we decided not to listen to the crazy voices of "reason" and did what our souls wanted. What if we did what our souls are begging us to let go and do? I feel like this song could be my soul's cry.
Deep down, there's so many things my soul screams but in some ways, my soul and I are two seperate entities simply because I don't take heed to what it says. I go with logic; reason; the voices inside my head. How many times have you lied to yourself and said that a situation was worth it when deep down, you felt your soul dying.
My soul can't make me love it or listen to it but at the same time, why wouldn't I really want to?

Reaping what you sow

After watching the Iraqi reporter throw both his shoes at President Bush, there was a mixture of reactions from the world. Some thought it was completely inappropriate and deserved punishment; some thought it was hilarious how he took off one shoe and had time to stop take off the other and hurl that one as well; some thought it served him right;some were amazed at his reflexes; and some actually felt bad for Bush.
It's been a while since the "double ducking" incident happened but after watching Obama's "state of the address"-like speech yesterday, I honestly wish that the reporter could have hit Bush with at least one shoe. Bush has carried himself like a complete idiot in my opinion and although there's many people at the top of the chain, he's commander in chief and ultimately responsible for this economic MESS we're in. Time and time again, Obama's speechwriters have cleverly found ways to make the recession sound like a fight we can take on in the next few years but honestly, we're in one hell of a mess. And it was scary to hear Obama say that if Congress doesn't act quickly, the damage could be irreversible. I just don't feel bad for Bush in terms of any of the bad press he may receive. Most of America is hurting during this economic recession and I feel like he should be hurting in some way too. It's one body...if the eye is hurting, the whole body is hurting. So Bush isn't hurting financially, he should be hurting some way and by all means, if it means public humiliation, let it be.

The Brilliance of Mr. Button

I don't go to the movies as often as I'd like to. But, Dad treated my sisters and I to a movie a few days ago. At first, I wanted to see Doubt (which I still def. wanna see) but we couldn't all agree on that one so we went to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button instead. When I say that going to see that movie was probably one of the best decisions I've made, I'm not even kidding!
I think that The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has got to be one of the best movies I've ever seen in my entire life! Starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, and Taraji P. Henson, I swear if this movie doesn't clean up at the Oscars, I can't imagine what would.
Inspired and very loosely based on the 1920s short story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the camera follows a tale of a man whose life is essentially backwards. He's born as an old man and dies as a newborn baby. The film takes you through the journey of his life with interesting story lines perfectly intertwined through the movie. I LOVE LOVE LOVEDDD it! The writers deserved to be slapped for being so freakin' creative. It kept my attention the entire time....let me put it this way. My dad has falling asleep in literally every single movie I've watched with him since I was a little girl and he stayed awake the entire three hours of this movie! That means it was REALLY good! LoL. Usually, I'm one of those people that will wait till the movie is in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart before I buy so I clearly have like...5 more years to go before I'll actually purchase The Great Debaters *smile* but I'm buying this one as soon as it hits the stands.
In my opinion, the acting was good, but it wasn't necessarily what blew me away. What blew me away was the actual story line and how it was written and how cleanly everything was brought together. Go see it! The trailer doesn't even do it complete justice. Trust me! You Won't be disappointed!
Man!!!
